Mondays
Coffee and Chat
This group takes place from 12.30pm to 2.30pm at Brighouse Rest Centre. There is no need to book, you can just turn up to this informal setting for a coffee and chat as well as the opportunity to enjoy games and activities. There is a £2 per person charge. This month we have guest speaker Julie Ingham joining us on the 6 July to talk about Home Care Myths and Myth busting.
Wednesdays
The Breakfast Group
This group runs from 10am to 12noon at 7 Southgate, Halifax HX1 1DL. If you wish you can join us before 10.30am to order a breakfast sandwich before joining the group of the week at 11am. There is a charge of £5 for this. Alternatively, you can join us at 11am to enjoy the week’s session. Details of the different sessions are below.
1st July: Technology Clinic.
The Technology Clinic runs from 10am to 12noon. Slots of 15 to 30 mins are available to book. Luke can offer 1-1 support tailored to whatever you need. Whether you need help with a specific technology problem, need help with accessibility settings or want to explore alternative solutions we will do our best to help.
22nd July: Focus Group.
This month Chris from Yorkshire Smoke Free Homes is coming along to discuss smoking cessation.
Knit and Natter
No matter what your skill level, you are welcome to bring along your latest knitting or crochet project to this group. Taking place within our social engagement cafe, you can enjoy a nice hot drink and a natter.
EnergEyes
This is a weekly fitness group that will focus on core strength, stretching and balance. The group will take place at Queens Sports Club, Moorlands View, HX1 2XQ for an hour from 1.30pm. There is a £5 charge per person to join the group. Please contact the office for more information and to book your place.
Coffee and Chat
This group runs every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm at our centre. Whether you enjoy a game of bingo, like the challenge of a quiz or fancy a catch up with some friendly faces this is the group for you. There is a charge of £2 per person.
Thursdays
SocialEyes
This group is all about experiences and trying something different. Based at our centre, the group runs every Thursday from 10.30am to 2pm. Details of the upcoming June sessions follow. Please note that booking is essential for this group and there is a £10 per person charge.
2nd July: TBC
9th July: Ten Pin Bowling
Are you ready for some strikes, spares and potential gutter balls? This week we are gong tenpin bowling, where the goal is simple-knock down as many pins as possible! But don’t worry if you’re not a pro, this game is all about fun, friendly competition and celebrating every roll (even the ones that go sideways!)

Fridays
Bowling Group
Join the Peaky Blinders every Friday from 11am onwards at Electric Bowl, Halifax, for a game or two of traditional tenpin bowling. For more information, please contact the office.
Locality Groups
Did you know that we have two Locality groups each month? These groups take place in Elland and Sowerby Bridge and are for anyone living with sight loss who would like to develop stronger social networks with others in the local community. It is also an opportunity for those who are not able to come along to the centre to meet peers and find out about all the services we offer.
Join Damian on the 1st Monday of every month at the Barley Box in Elland from 11am for a coffee and a chat. Alternatively, Damian will be at the Moorlands in Sowerby Bridge on the 3rd Monday of every month from 11am. There is no charge for these groups which usually last around an hour. We look forward to seeing you there.
Walking Group
This month the Walkie Talkies are heading to Rishworth. The walk will take place on Tuesday 28th July. We will meet at the main entrance to the bus station at 9.40am ready to get the bus at 9.50am. We will then enjoy a circular walk around the reservoir. Please be aware that this walk involves some uneven paths and inclines, sensible shoes will be required. Whilst there will be volunteers available to support, this walk will be physically challenging. We will pre-order sandwiches from the Malt House for lunch, ready to catch the bus back to Halifax at 1.50pm.

Inbetweeners
The next gathering of the Inbetweeners will be on Thursday 23rd July at 6pm. We will meet at the centre as usual and then head to Julio’s for some delicious food. If you would like to join us, please let us know as soon as possible so we can book a table.
Summer Trip: Blackpool
This is your last chance to book on the summer trip! Taking place on Thursday 16th July, this is a summer adventure not to be missed. Blackpool is a seaside resort on the Irish Sea Coast of England. Its known for Blackpool Pleasure Beach, an old school amusement park with vintage wooden roller coasters. Another landmark is the Blackpool Tower. Built in 1894, the Tower houses a circus, a glass viewing platform and the Tower Ballroom, where dancers twirl to the music of the Wurlitzer organ. Whether you want to relax on the beach, stroll down the promenade, explore the pier or entertain yourself with the countless amusements, Blackpool has something for everyone. There is a charge of £25 per person. This is non-refundable and must be paid to secure your place. Please note this charge is to cover the cost of the coach. Sensory Team Drop In
We are pleased to announce that the Sensory Team, Visual Impairment and Hearing Impairment, will be offering a monthly drop in session. On the 2nd Tuesday of every month, starting on Tuesday 14 July from 10am to 1pm, Kathy Bland and Michelle Gerrard will be available to offer advice and support.
