We are very sorry to share the news that David Ashton, a trustee of Disability Partnership Calderdale, passed away on the 2nd April 2026.
David served as a trustee for many years, giving his time generously to support the organisation and its work. Many people will remember him as the friendly, familiar face welcoming visitors at the door at our open meetings, always offering a warm greeting and helping people feel at ease.
Alongside his role with Disability Partnership Calderdale, David contributed to a number of local groups and organisations, including the Young at Heart Club and the Halifax Rugby League Heritage Lunch Club.
In his professional life, David worked as a secondary school history teacher, a role through which he influenced and supported many young people over the years.
David will be greatly missed by fellow trustees, colleagues, and the many people whose lives he touched through his kindness and his unique sense of humour.
His funeral will take place at Park Wood Crematorium, Elland, at 1.30pm on Thursday 1 May. All are welcome to attend.
