The website, Independent Age, has developed a great guide to disability benefits after pension age. Here’s their latest article on the subject, with links to more information on their website:
If you live in England or Wales, are over State Pension age and need help with your care needs, you may qualify for Attendance Allowance.
Attendance Allowance is paid at two different rates, depending on the level of care you need. For 2026/27, these are:
– £76.70 a week – if you need care or supervision during the day or night
– £114.60 a week – if you need care or supervision during both the day and night, or if you have a terminal (life-limiting) illness
You can check out our short video below for a simple explanation of Attendance Allowance.
Our free guides Attendance Allowance and Pension Age Disability Payment offer more information about who qualifies and how to claim, tips for filling in the claim forms and more.
