Mondays

Coffee and Chat
This group takes place from 12.30pm to 2.30pm at Brighouse Rest Centre. There is no need to book, you can just turn up to this informal setting for a coffee and chat as well as the opportunity to enjoy games and activities. There is a £2 per person charge.

Wednesdays

The Breakfast Group
This group runs from 10am to 12noon at 7 Southgate, Halifax HX1 1DL. If you wish you can join us before 10.30am to order a breakfast sandwich before joining the group of the week at 11am. There is a charge of £5 for this. Alternatively, you can join us at 11am to enjoy the week’s session. Details of the different sessions are below.

  • 4th March: Technology Clinic.
    The Technology Clinic runs from 10am to 12noon. Slots of 15 to 30 mins are available to book 15 or 30 mins. Luke can offer 1-1 support tailored to whatever you need. Whether you need help with a specific technology problem, need help with accessibility settings or want to explore alternative solutions we will do our best to help.
  • 11th March: Companion Group.
    This is a peer support group for friends/family or carers of people with a Visual Impairment. Come along to have a chat with others in a similar role. This week we welcome Danielle from Carers Count. Danielle will be discussing the services they have on offer and how you are able to access them.
  • 18th March: Guide Dog Group.
    This is a group for past, present and future guide dog owners to get together and discuss the highs and lows of guide dog ownership.
  • 25th March: Focus Group.
    This week Ian Gledhill from Electoral Services will be coming along to demonstrate the McGonagle Reader, a device designed to allow blind and partially sighted people vote independently and in secret. Ian will also be able to update about the changes they are implementing to make voting more accessible.

Knit and Natter
No matter what your skill level, you are welcome to bring along your latest knitting or crochet project to this group. Taking place within our social engagement cafe, you can enjoy a nice hot drink and a natter.

Coffee and Chat
This group runs every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm at our centre. Whether you enjoy a game of bingo, like the challenge of a quiz or fancy a catch up with some friendly faces this is the group for you. There is a charge of £2 per person.

EnergEyes
This is a weekly fitness group that will focus on core strength, stretching and balance. The group will take place at Queens Sports Club, Moorlands View, HX1 2XQ for an hour from 1.30pm. There is a £5 charge per person to join the group. Please contact the office for more information and to book your place.

Thursdays

SocialEyes
This group is all about experiences and trying something different. Based at our centre, the group runs every Thursday from 10.30am to 2pm. Details of the upcoming March sessions follow. Please note that booking is essential for this group and there is a £10 per person charge.

  • 5th March: Step Back in Time
    Local historian, David Glover, will be captivating us with a fascinating talk about how we used to live. This is a presentation telling personal stories of life in Halifax before and during World War II. Come along to hear about the experiences of those who grew up with outside toilets, find out more about the truly curious characters that lurked around town and more.
  • 12 March: Pot of Gold: A St. Patrick’s th Day Celebration
    Join us for some Irish themed fun! This week we will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. The
    session will include an Irish Quiz, Showstopping Shamrocks and our very own Temple Bar!
  • 19th March: Hidden spaces: A backstage tour of Victoria Theatre
    This is your opportunity to go behind the scenes and explore areas you have never seen before. Discover backstage secrets amongst a world hidden from the audience. An opportunity not to be missed. Limited spaces so book early!
  • 26th March: Beyond the Visual
    This is the UK’s first major sculpture exhibition made up of mainly blind and partially sighted artists. The exhibition demonstrates that blindness is no barrier to creating ambitious sculpture. Join us for a guided tour before experiencing a large scale sensory sculpture
    activity. As we will be using Community Transport, there is a £15 per person charge.

Fridays

Bowling Group
Join the Peaky Blinders every Friday from 11am onwards at Electric Bowl, Halifax, for a game or two of traditional tenpin bowling. For more information, please contact the office.

Walking Group
The Walking Group is back! Join the ever popular Walkie Talkies on their first walk of 2026. This is a chance to join others living with sight loss and to get some fresh air and exercise. Don’t worry though, after all that exercise, there is always an opportunity to get some lunch. The first walk takes place on Tuesday 31 March when you have the choice to enjoy a gentle stroll around Ogden Reservoir or, for the more adventurous, you may want to step off the beaten track and head for the slightly more rural track. This year the Walkie Talkies will be focusing on walks that are easily accessible via public transport. With that in mind, we will meet at the bus station at 9.45am. For those who are making their own way to the reservoir we will see you at the entrance to the car park at 10.30am.To reserve your place and discuss any support needs, please contact the office on 01422 352383.

Inbetweeners
The next gathering of the Inbetweeners will be on Thursday 26 March at 6pm. Following the fun of our Family Fortunes evening in February, we will be hosting a “Would I Lie to You” evening, based on the popular tv show. If you think you can convince others that an outrageous lie is true or that gospel truth is a complete lie, then this is the evening for you. Alternatively, if you just want to come along to enjoy some lively chat and good company, please feel free to join us.

Foot Clinic
The Foot Clinic with Philippa from PS Footcare, will take place on Wednesday 25 March from 10am to 3pm. Appointments are 30mins long and services include basic nail trimming, paring of calluses, corn removal, ingrowing toe nail cutting, reduction of nail thickness and any advice appropriate to meet our needs. There is a charge of £35. Please contact the office to book your slot. Home visits are also available.

Di’s Pies
Starting Monday 16th March, we’re thrilled to announce a delicious new partnership with the famous Di’s Pies. Every Monday and Friday, come along to the Social Engagement Café between 10am and 2pm and treat yourself to a mouth-watering pie in a bright, modern, and welcoming setting. Whether you’re catching up with friends, taking a relaxing break, or just craving a treat, this is the perfect way to add a little flavour to your day! We look forward to welcoming you soon.
