Employment support for disabled people: Disability at Work is a new report from the government’s Department for Work & Pensions.
The report presents findings from the Work and Pensions Committee’s inquiry into employment support for disabled people. Drawing on written and oral evidence, it finds that employment barriers for disabled people include employers’ reluctance to make reasonable adjustments and inaccessible workplaces. It recommends that the government requires employers to respond to adjustment requests within two weeks, provide written reasons for refusals, and ensure all new employees receive information on disabled workers’ rights and available support and advocacy services.
