Calderdale Stroke Support Group – Meetings & Walks

Calderdale Stroke Support Group is a voluntary group, set up in 2015 by two stroke survivors, and is part of the Stroke Association.  It is open to everyone in Calderdale who has suffered a stroke and is now rebuilding their life. A stroke changes your life in an instant and has such an impact. It is  recognised that having a chance to talk to others whose life has been affected by a stroke, whether as a stroke survivor or family or friend, is a bonus.

The group provides long-term peer support to stroke survivors and provides an opportunity to rediscover skills, regain confidence, increase independence and to socialise with others who are in the same situation. There are two meetings every month – once in the Maurice Jagger Centre in Halifax and once at Shibden Park – and both are designed to stimulate and help recover the part of your brain and body which have been affected by the stroke.

A CSSG Newsletter with information is sent to people each month either by email or by second class post. CSSG is responsible for its own fundraising and operates under the policies and procedures of the Stroke Association
