Meet Fran, the Eye Care Liaison Officer
Hi, my name’s Fran and I’m the new Eye Care Liaison Officer (ECLO) at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust. I have worked within the NHS for approximately 15 years, spending time with Dietetics and Nutrition, Diabetic eye screening and most recently the Ophthalmology team as a Medical Secretary.
In my new role I work for the RNIB providing practical and emotional support to anyone affected by sight loss, including families and carers. This includes helping people maintain their independence, better understand their eye condition and offering information on matters such as their welfare benefit entitlement, concessions, and employment rights, as well as enabling them to access further support out in the community. I can also arrange appointments with our Low Vision Clinic.
Outside of work I’ve been married for 21 years, and we have 3 incredible boys. We also have a little dog called Poppy who is 8 years old. I love to bake and crochet, if you are ever in need of a warm hat let me know.
You’ll find me in my ECLO room on Floor 2 of Acre Mills Outpatients, opposite the Macular Clinic prep room.
