Free one-to-one support for young deaf people in Kirklees

Deaf Experience Limited (DEX) have funding up to April 2023 to offer one to one support to any deaf young person aged 16 – 25 living in Kirklees. Here’s what they say about the offer:

This could include transition support for example, filling in college or university applications, learning how to travel independently, and preparing for the workplace. We are happy and able to work with EHCP plans, and are able to be flexible if there is another identified need we can support with.

We can visit deaf young people in their education setting or arrange to meet them elsewhere such as a library or café. We can attend relevant activities with deaf young people, for example, careers fairs or college open days. We will refund travel expenses. We can also meet deaf young people online via Zoom or Teams.

Our staff are DBS checked and fully trained. They are deaf themselves so can act as a deaf role model and share their own lived experiences.

If you would like to find out more or want to discuss a deaf young person/ people you are working with who may benefit from this service please contact us a.s.a.p. to arrange.
