Doctors have seen several cases of Meningitis in Calderdale recently. The most important thing you can do if you feel or see the signs, is get to hospital as quickly as you can. Tell the hospital you think you’ve got signs of meningitis when you arrive. The quicker you can get treatment, the better.
Symptoms can include some or all of the following:
- a fever
- headache
- a stiff neck
- a dislike of bright lights
- rapid breathing
- drowsiness
- shivering
- vomiting
- cold hands and feet.
- It sometimes also causes a characteristic rash which does not fade when pressed against a glass.
