The Hebden Bridge & District Old People’s Welfare Committee is a registered charity that has been in existence for more than 100 years. The local community is coming together to help one another, with those who are able, providing assistance to people in at-risk groups who are self-isolating or social distancing and unable to shop, socialise freely or mix with others.

They have a really good website with lots of useful information, with help available, volunteer opportunities plus promise of more support to come. One to bookmark if you live locally.

Local businesses are thinking of innovative ways to reach out those who need it and provide goods and services in a completely different way, and volunteers are helping to bridge the gap between those businesses by providing delivery services, lending a hand or undertaking simple tasks on behalf of those who have been wise enough to heed the government’s advice.
