Motability Survey

The Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) is conducting a public consultation to examine how public money can be used to support the mobility needs of disabled people more effectively.

The committee is primarily looking to receive evidence from Disabled Peoples’ Organisations (DPOs) and individuals who have experience of the Motability Scheme. They are particularly keen to hear from people who are eligible to use the Motability Scheme but do not take advantage of it, whether that be through choice or not.

The SSAC is aware that there has been quite a lot of research conducted into the accessibility of public transport, but not a lot of research has been carried out in relation to the accessibility of private transport and how it benefits disabled people. Therefore, the committee is looking to find out why some people choose to opt out of the Motability Scheme, and the reasons why some people have problems accessing it.

If you would like to find out more information about the consultation and submit your response you can do so by visiting www.gov.uk. The consultation closes on 3rd December 2019 and DMUK will be submitting a response.
