Many of us are familiar with the disability charity Scope, with their hard-hitting pledge: “Scope exists to make this country a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else. Until then, we’ll be here.”
But what is their long term strategy to bring about the changes they seek? Well, their website includes a detailed strategy document covering up to the year 2022. Here’s what Scope have to say about it:
“Everyday Equality, our five-year strategy, sets out how we will work to drive social change so that disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else.
Life today is much harder for the 13 million disabled people in this country than it needs to be. Disabled people have told us the challenges they face are changing.
They face barriers to the support they need at home, in education or at work, and encounter negative attitudes, unnecessary extra costs and huge pressures on family life.
So we’re changing to meet those challenges with them.”
